Extreme couponing has been around forever, but because of our failing economy it seems to have really become the latest fad. Using the Internet, newspapers, and social media in general have made saving money a new hobby for a lot of families. I myself have caught the bug and live for my Sunday paper, and watching Facebook for the latest coupons to pop up. My biggest guilty pleasure is TLC's Extreme Couponing, its like a car accident, you hate it...but you have to look! I can't stand the clearing of shelves, its selfish. I have gone to stores and seen a great price with a coupon in had to get a deal, and its totally cleared, no rain check, no nothing..just an empty basket and wasted gas.
All most all of the shows couponers have stock piles, that they practically worship. I have gotten several items in bulk that I find on sale at a deep discount. However, my husband would kill me if I had a stock pile. Living in military housing you have to figure out space, and if anything is getting extra space its gonna be my man's military gear. Recently Amazon.com had a special on Joy dish soap, you could get a case of 25 for $7.40. I was so excited when it came, first thing my hubby did was grab a plastic bag and put 5 in it to take to his Mom's house. He feels that with the move coming up do we really want to pack extra dish soap? That made me wonder about the case sale on post being next week...should I skip it this year or should I stock up and move the loot with us? My biggest fear is the truck being packed like it was last time and not having room for everything. On the other had we could end up in an extremely small town with the nearest Wal-mart being an hour away and not having anything real options on deals. Its something to think about, and I've only got a week to make up my mind.

The Neighbors will miss us!
It was a fairly nice weekend for Mother's Day, had some of the typical Washington rain but the sun came out and we can finally go outside without a jacket in the daytime. On Friday, Kevan got off work early to take me to get a cast put on after a week of whobbling around the house in a splint. We borrowed my folks 84' Corvett so they could have the extra seating since they watched the boys for the whole week. As I went outside to go get in the car to leave for my appointment I opened the door with the alarm still activated. YAY! FOR CAR ALARMS! We could not figure out how to get the thing to turn off. Our next door neighbors came out to see if everything was alright, and still after 10 minutes could not get it to shut off. Other people in the neighborhood were checking their cars to see if their alarms were going off. Oh it was embarassing. Finally my Dad called and gave some tips and after about 20 minutes of our ears ringing it stopped and we ended up being 10 minutes late for my appointment.
Mother's Day was pretty uneventful in our house, since it falls in between paydays I usually don't expect much if anything. We mostly are trying to save money for the move and I don't mind. Someday Elijah will be able to make me a card, and JoJo will be able to say Happy Mother's Day to me :)
Hopefully with the extra recruiter pay we will be a little more money stable. Its funny we got so close to having no food in the house, or money in the bank and God always provides. We had a package on the porch today which was a whole box of food that I got for 15 dollars on groupon.com a month ago! It should help get us to Thursday, plus its that time of year again...CASE SALE TIME!!!! Fort Lewis Case Sales are the best!!!! We got fabric softner 2 years ago and just got to our last pack, thats a HUGE savings. Hopefully Deca will post the list online so I can start to do my coupon match ups for it.

Medic! we got a Momma down!
The past 72 hours have been pretty crazy for the Brenay family. On Sunday morning I got up, went into Jonah's room to get him out of his crib, then started my normal walk down stairs and it happened....I lost my footing. First thing was to protect Jonah so I lifted him up in the air as I fell, but as soon as I hit the bottom I heard a loud "pop". Not even 3 seconds later Kevan was right next to me taking Jonah from my arms, Obi and Elijah came running down stairs wondering what was going on. Kevan staying calm, put Jonah in his porta crib, and came back to feel the bone, and told me we need to go to the ER. I hobbled to Kevan's man-chair, and he handed me Jonah again and told me to feed him as we started to call family near by that could watch the boys so we could go to the ER. My parents rushed over as soon as I called.
The ER wasn't busy, but it doesn't sound good when your husband tells the nurse, "she fell down the stairs" Let me be clear, my hubby loves me, and I'm just a klutz. We were pretty much seen the whole time we were at the ER, always doing something. After the first set of X-rays, they came in and told me that I had broken my upper ankle in 2 places but it wasn't the weight baring bone so I might be able to have a walking cast. They did several tests and said at this time they didn't see any ligament damage. After 6 hours at the ER I was released to go home in a splint and would be called later about having a regular cast put on.
After the whole ankle issue, I was able to stop and think about how bad, and what horrible timing this is. Kevan leaves in 5 weeks for Recruiter school! We are leaving to see his brother and sister in 2 weeks for family pictures! Jana and I are supposed to see Into the Woods next Saturday! And to top it off, how in the world am I supposed to get a baby carrier out of our Honda Fit while on crutches? We need a lot of prayer right now. I was just starting to get things ready for this move and now I feel like I'm 3 steps behind and on crutches to top it off. Wow it only took 2 seconds to change everything in this house!
